GET KIDS BACK TO SCHOOL LEADS THE WAY ON PROTECTING GIRLS' RIGHTS

DISTRICTS REFUSE TO COMPLY WITH TITLE IX

MUTLIPLE COMPLAINTS FILED WITH THE OFFICE OF CIVIL RIGHTS

Northville, MI  – Notwithstanding the Executive Order President Trump issued almost a month ago, school districts in Michigan have failed to comply with rules that protect the rights of young women in school. Some have, in fact, hidden their procedures to eviscerate Title IX and eliminate female-only sports, locker rooms and restrooms. With the help of Get Kids Back to School, Inc., a Michigan-based 501(c)(4) focused on improving Michigan schools, parents are now fighting back. GKTBS can reveal that complaints with the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights involving four districts: Mt. Pleasant, Plymouth-Canton, Rochester and Hartland. Unless school administrators comply with the law, more are sure to come.

Title IX of the Higher Education Act, passed in 1972, protects the rights of young women to private spaces in schools. Nevertheless, districts previously overlooked this long-time understanding of the law to accommodate the Biden Administration's faulty interpretation. Courts across the country ruled that the Biden EO was unconstitutional and unenforceable. Now, districts in Michigan are turning to the Eliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act to continue to violate girls' rights. Since the ratification of the Constitution, however, the law has been clear: if the Federal Government grants a right, the State cannot take it away.

Some schools have refused to change their bathroom, locker room and sports policies, and parents have had enough. Parents and local activists, with the help of Get Kids Back to School, Inc., have acted to protect their rights by filing complaints, as described in an article in the Detroit News published Sunday, March 2.

Matthew J. Wilk, President of Get Kids Back to School, Inc., noted These parents have been forced to seek the assistance of the federal government in securing the rights of young girls to private spaces. It shouldn't have to come to this. The law since 1972 has protected those rights, and school districts should change back policies and procedures they were strong-armed by the Biden Administration into imposing . It is high time that districts get back to educating children, and one way is to make sure that, in accordance with Title IX, girls have the same rights they unquestionably had only a few short years ago.

It is unclear how the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights will respond, but it is instructive to note that, after it was revealed that the State of Maine had a policy that failed to protect women's sports, the OCR opened an immediate investigation. GKBTS will issue an update when information is available.

Get Kids Back to School Inc. is a 501(c)(4) dedicated to improving the education of all citizens, including our youngest. The organization provides guidance, information and support to decision-makers who will help push back the tide of erosion on the traditional curriculum, and improve and reinvigorate the education of Michigan’s students.
